Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser
|
Wow – what an incredible response to our Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser! A huge thank you to everyone who supported this fundraiser.
|
|
Thanks to your generosity, we sold over 820 bags of Hot Cross Buns!
|
Keep an eye out for our Term 2 Fundraiser, where we’ll be selling Nothing Naughty Bars! These were a huge hit last year, and we’re excited to offer them again.

David Street School celebrates children showing our values in their behaviour and actions at school. Recipients of the Principals Awards were:

Laylah Robinson
Laylah received her award for the way she approaches her learning with determination, a ‘can-do’ attitude, and a beautiful smile. Laylah’s positivity makes a real difference to our classroom culture, creating a happier and more uplifting place for learning.
|
Keanu Akauola
Keanu received his award for stepping up as a leader and role model in and out of the classroom, showing maturity beyond his years. He is respectful, responsible and supportive, often encouraging others to do the right thing if they are being misled. Keanu strives for excellence in all aspects of school life and continues to make huge progress in his learning.

Jack Jamieson
Jack is finishing his time at DSS this term and we are so sad to lose him! Jack consistently shows all of our values - he is very observant, takes initiative and problem-solves independently. Room 8 has been lucky to have Jack this term and we are very confident that he will make lots of new friends at his new school because he is caring, thoughtful, sporty, funny and respectful!

Ava Arnet
Ava received her award for showing all of the values in everything she does! She is a curious learner and approaches every task with a can-do attitude. Her work is always completed to the highest standard. Ava has contributed massively to the class culture in Room 7 and we love seeing her warm smile every day!

Archer Siemelink
Archer received his award for being a respectful student who consistently works hard and strives for excellence in all areas of his learning. His ability to manage himself responsibly is truly impressive. Archer sets a wonderful example for your peers.

Sophie Stevens
Sophie received her award for being an outstanding DSS kid!
She always shows our values and strives for excellence at every opportunity. Sophie is courageous and diligent, pushing herself in her learning.

Reading with Rotary Awards
Morrinsville Rotary Club and Paper Plus Morrinsville are kindly sponsoring prizes to promote reading in our school and other local schools.
Each term a student from the junior, middle and senior school will be awarded a prize for significant reading progress.
|
|
|
Congratulations to the following students who received an award from Rotary & Paper Plus for outstanding progress in reading last term.
The winning students receive a voucher to buy a book at Paper Plus and a certificate.

Ashriel Prasad
Ashriel has come leaps and bounds in all literacy. He is super motivated and eager to all new learning and actively seeks for new ways to improve. His curious and respectful nature is admired by others and has truly allowed him to get the most out of all new experiences.
|
Skylar Madden
Skylar has made great progress in her reading and writing skills. She works hard to listen, learn, and use spelling rules in her writing, which helps her in reading as well. Her dedication to improving her reading is clear through her efforts in class, at home, and with Mrs. Borrie. Skylar shows great improvement and uses her knowledge confidently and enthusiastically in the classroom.

Corbyn Lusby
Corbyn is a dedicated learner who always displays excellence in literacy. He has been working hard to actively use his letter sound knowledge and decoding strategies in his reading in class and with Ms Niven. We are all very proud of his positive can-do attitude towards his learning.

Principals Award: Ryder Johnston
|
|
Ryder receives his award for his ' thinking' skills during concept learning. He asks questions to get a deeper understanding of the world around us. Ryder takes action in a variety of ways to share his new learning with others.

Volleyball with Volleyball Waikato
|
On Tuesday, our senior school students had the opportunity to learn new volleyball skills from Seth, a coach from Volleyball Waikato.
|
|
The session included skill-building activities, followed by some friendly games. It was a fantastic day of teamwork, learning, and fun on the court!
|

Science Roadshow

|
The Science Roadshow visited our school on Wednesday for our Year 4 - 6 children to explore and learn at the mobile science discovery centre.
|
|
The Science Roadshow brings a range of captivating interactive science and technology exhibits directly into schools.

ONLINE FUNDRAISING PROGRAM – RAISE MONEY, WIN PRIZES!

We are excited to announce that the Piako Colour Fest will be held on Sunday 13 April at Campbell Park in Morrinsville.
|
This is a major fundraising event aimed at raising much-needed funds for

The WaterBoy with Lugtons.
The WaterBoy with Lugtons is a Waikato-based children’s charity that breaks down barriers to make sport an achievable option for Waikato kids. We work alongside local sponsors to financially support families to keep their children out on the sports field.
|
We (The WaterBoy with Lugtons) have partnered with School Fun Run (an online fundraising platform) to help boost our fundraising efforts.
|
When you purchase your tickets online for the Piako Colour Fest, please select the “yes” box to sign your child(ren) up to the School Fun Run fundraising program. This involves your child fundraising for The WaterBoy with Lugtons for their participation in the Piako Colour Fest.
|
How does the fundraising work?
|
● Create a Profile online: Visit schoolfunrun.co.nz and set up a student profile. This page will be the hub for all fundraising activities. Your school will be “WaterBoy with Lugtons Sfr” and your class will be your school name.
|
● Share Your Link: Encourage donations by sharing your child’s fundraising page with family and friends via email, SMS, or social media.
|
Students who raise at least $10 can choose a prize! The more they raise, the better the reward. Please check the sponsorship form for prize details. We have reminded students about safety concerns with door-knocking, and we encourage you to reinforce this at home.
|
We welcome parents and family members to attend the event and support the students.
|
|
