Board of Trustees Elections
|
|
|
|
School Board Elections: All state schools are required to hold board elections every three years, and the next round is taking place this term.
|
The current board has appointed ‘Election Pilot’ as our Returning Officer, and the election will be conducted online by ‘Schooled’.
|
|
Nominations opened on Friday, 18th July, for the election of 5 parent representatives to the David Street School Board.
|

|
|
All eligible voters should have received a nomination pack, either by email (if we have your email address on file) or by post (if no email address is available)
|

Soccer Hockey Fun Day
The annual Soccer/Hockey Fun Day is scheduled for Thursday, 11 September at the Morrinsville Recreation Grounds.
The day is open to all Year 4, 5 and 6 students who register. This day is about promoting and participating in soccer and hockey with a core focus on fun and fair play.

On the day, the students play both hockey and soccer.
|
|
Please register and pay the $5 registration fee on our DAVID STREET SCHOOL shop by Friday, 15 August.
|
|
Please be aware that entries are limited, so placement in teams will be on a first in basis.
|
|
|
|
Kapa Haka – Piako Cultural Festival
|
This year, the Piako Cultural Festival will take place on Thursday, 28 August, at the Morrinsville Events Centre.
|
|
Please note that this event does not involve all Kapa Haka students. This year, we will be taking our senior students and a selection of middle school students to perform and represent our school.
|
|
A detailed notice with more information will be sent home with students closer to the date. Students will be travelling by bus to and from the event.
|
|
Hockey 2025
|
Hockey begins this Friday, 1 August, for those students who have already registered.
|
|
Games will be played at the Morrinsville College Turf.
|
|

Principal Awards

David Street School celebrates children showing our values in their behaviour and actions at school. Recipients of the Principal Awards were:

Layne Webster
Layne demonstrates the values in everything he does. He is a respectful and responsible learner who is always doing the right thing. Layne completes tasks to a high standard and works well independently and in a team. His kindness and positive attitude towards all learning make him a role model in Room 12 and the Kauri Team.
Florence Marshall
|
|
Florence consistently shows excellence in her mahi.
|
|
She always works so hard in the classroom, completing every task to the best of her abilities. Florence is a role model to others in the class, consistently showing respect to her teachers and classmates.
|
Izaiah West
Izaiah is a respectful and kind student who consistently demonstrates a positive attitude towards his learning. He approaches every task with focus and enthusiasm and shows perseverance when faced with challenges. Izaiah is also a caring and thoughtful friend to everyone, always willing to include others and lend a helping hand. He is a true role model in both behaviour and attitude. Ka pai, Izaiah!
Addison Caldwell
Addison received her award for consistently being respectful and well-behaved at Care for Kids. Addison is always friendly and considerate. She is quick to offer to help and tidies up without being asked. Her quiet, easy-going nature is a good example to others
Payton Murray
Payton received her award for showing the value of excellence in her learning. She thinks carefully about her learning tasks and loves making new connections. Payton happily works with anyone in the class, showing what a team player she is!
Amelia Furniss
Amelia is an all-around, hard-working learner who shows dedication and excellence in everything she does. She demonstrates curiosity in our concept topics, always asking deeper questions and getting clarification to confirm her understanding.
Amelia is kind-hearted, welcoming and a friendly member of our team. We are very lucky to have her!

Kauri Team Speech Semi-Finals
|
|
|
Celebrating Our Year 3 and 4 Speakers!
|
The Kauri Team completed the semi-finals of our 2025 Speech Competition on Wednesday, 23 July, and what an impressive event it was! Twenty-one passionate and well-prepared learners took to the stage to present their persuasive speeches on a wide range of engaging topics.
|
|
We were incredibly fortunate to have Mrs Fielding and Mrs Harrop join us as our guest judges. They had the challenging task of selecting finalists due to the exceptional quality of the speeches and the evident hard work all students had put into their preparation.
|
After much deliberation, we are proud to announce that ten learners have been selected to move on to the final round. Congratulations to all who participated —you demonstrated courage, confidence, and a growing mastery of persuasive speaking.
|
|
We look forward to the 2025 Kauri Team Speech Finals on Thursday, 7th August at 9:15 am, where our finalists will once again take the stage. Whānau are warmly invited to attend and celebrate this special moment with us!

Report an Absence
|

It is very important that you notify us when your child will be absent.
|
There are a couple of ways you can do this:

Did you know you can send absentee notifications quickly & easily to us through the Hero app? This is the simplest & fastest way to let us know when your child will be absent from school.
|

For safety reasons, you must notify us if your child will be away from school. It also saves the office staff a lot of time following up.
