Team Photo Organisation - Wednesday 17 September

Kapa haka Photos Information
On Wednesday, 17 September, we have our Performance kapa haka team photo. Kapa haka is the first team photo at 9.05 am. We require our Kapa haka performance children to be at school by 8.30 am.
Boys will need black undergarments/tights. Girls are to have their hair tied off their faces.

Class and Individual Photos - Thursday 18 September

Class and individual photos will be taken on Thursday, 18th September. There will be no photos on 19th September unless the photographers run out of time on Thursday, in which case we will notify you. Please do not assume that if your child is absent on Thursday that they will have their photo taken on Friday, as this may not be the case.

Sibling photo request. Fill this out only if you wish your David Street School students to be photographed together. This form is to be returned to the office by Monday, 15th September.

Below is a list of other Team Photo requirements of what to wear on the day:

Student Surnames on Photos

As you may know, the school typically uses only students' first names in newsletters, certificates, and other public-facing materials. However, class and team photographs are considered part of our official school records.
For this reason, we would prefer to include each child’s surname in these photos for archival purposes.
If you would rather your child’s surname not be used in class or team photographs, please let us know by Monday, 15th September.
Thank you for your support.

Hullabaloo at the Zoo

“A Hullabaloo at the Zoo” was the theme of David Street School’s Junior Production — and what a show it was! The stage came alive with pandas, sloths, elephants, monkeys, and more, all dancing their way into the audience’s hearts.

Every Junior School student took part, bringing energy, colour, and joy to the performance. The story was brought to life under the direction of Miss Emma Alsemgeest and the Junior Team.

Stunning costumes by Mrs. Deb Priest transformed our tamariki into zoo animals, and we’re so proud of their courage to perform on stage. A big thank you to all the whaanau who helped with face painting and to Ms. Simone Vester for the stage setup.

Thank You to Grassroots Trust

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the team at Grassroots Trust for their generous grant to our school community.
With their support, we’ve been able to purchase three new Pickleball nets, which have already become a fantastic addition to our school. Pickleball is now one of the most popular sports at
David Street School, with many students actively participating during break times.
It’s been wonderful to see such high levels of engagement and enthusiasm.

As part of the same grant, we’ve also purchased new basketball hoops, which our students are eagerly awaiting. These additions will further enhance opportunities for physical activity and fun during the school day.

We are incredibly grateful to Grassroots Trust for making this possible through their financial support. Their contribution has made a real and positive impact on both our students and the wider school community.
Thank you, Grassroots Trust!

Hockey Draw for Friday 12 September

Here is the final draw of the Hockey Season. Thank you to our managers and coaches for being there for our children this season. We appreciate your support.

Digital Technology

Miss Martin’s Digital Technology group has been working alongside the Kauri Team to strengthen their digital skills.
Students have been learning how to access documents, create electronic drawings, carry out online research, and save and share their mahi with others.

It’s been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they explore new tools and discover ways to use technology to support and enhance their learning.

Senior Art

Some of our senior school have been creating 3D art. The artworks are inspired by Charles McGee with a focus on line, pattern and sculptural elements.

Room 10 Acrostic Poems and Art Work

Room 10's Acrostic Daffodil Poems and art. These are being displayed at ANZ this September.

Please support the businesses that support our school!

Report an Absence

It is very important that you notify us when your child will be absent.
There are a couple of ways you can do this:
  • Our School App
  • Phone - 07 889-7780 (option 1) & leave a message
Did you know you can send absentee notifications quickly & easily to us through the Hero app? This is the simplest & fastest way to let us know when your child will be absent from school.
For safety reasons, you must notify us if your child will be away from school. It also saves the office staff a lot of time following up.
