Middle School Swimming Carnival

Monday 2 March
The Kauri Team Swimming Carnival is this Monday!
Venue: Morrinsville Pools at the Recreation Grounds on Monday, 2nd March
Time: 9.30 am - 1.30 pm (approx) (No postponement day)
Students will travel by bus to and from the pool. Parents will make their own way to the pools. Please note there is no cost for this trip.
All children must bring:
  • two towels
  • warm jumper
  • sunblock
  • a named bottle of water to drink
  • a larger morning tea and lunch than usual.
We encourage the children to wear their togs under their clothes to school to save time when we get to the pools. They will wear their David Street School hats when they are not swimming, and we encourage them to come to school with sunscreen already applied. Long hair should be tied up. The pool canteen will not open to children, so no money is needed.

If you would like to sign your child out after the event, please speak to a teacher first.

We would like as many parents/caregivers as possible to join us to help supervise groups of children, give out placings in races, and to support your children's races. Due to the water-based nature of this trip, a high adult-to-child ratio is necessary, and unfortunately, pre-schoolers will not be able to participate. We look forward to seeing you there to support and cheer.

Thanks for your support,
The Kauri Team Teachers

Junior Water Fun Day

Wednesday 4 March
On Wednesday, 4th March, the Kahikatea Team (Junior School) have their annual ‘Water Fun Day’ at the Morrinsville Pools.

The timetable will run as follows:
  • All junior classes will bus down to the pools at 10.15 am
  • ‘Water Fun’ from 10.30 am – 12.30 pm
  • The children usually eat when they are hungry or as they are finished with the water activities (we have activities on dry land also)
  • All junior classes return to school by bus.
  • There is NO COST for this trip.
We would like as many parents/caregivers as possible to join us to help supervise small groups of children. As this trip is around water, a high adult/child ratio is required, and pre-schoolers will not be able to attend. We would love a 1:2 ratio.
We will need some adults in the water with the children, but most will need to be actively supervising from the sidelines.
If you can assist us and haven’t already let us know that you are coming, PLEASE let us know asap.
Any questions, please contact your child's teacher.

Senior Team Carnival Swimming Event

Friday 6 March
This will be held at the Morrinsville Pools at the Recreation Grounds on Friday 6th March. For those children who did not attend the Competition Swimming.
Time: 9 am - 12.30 pm (approx)

Students will travel by bus to and from the pool.
There will be various races across the width of the shallow end of the 50m pool. The races will range from flutterboard races to freestyle swimming. All children will be entered into races that suit their own level. If for sincere reasons your child cannot swim, then they must bring a note.
All Swimmers:
  • All children will need to bring 2 towels
  • A warm jumper,
  • Water to drink
  • A larger morning tea/lunch than normal.
We are encouraging the children to wear their togs under their clothes to school if possible to save time when we get to the pools.
They will wear their David Street School hats when they are not swimming, and we encourage them to come to school with sunscreen already applied. It would be helpful if long hair could be tied up.
The pool canteen is not open to the children at this time, so no money is required.
Any questions, please contact your child's teacher.
