Launchpad (formerly Bible in Schools) for 2026 began this week.

All families who want their child to attend Launchpad in 2026 must complete a new

Opt-In form and return it to the school office.

Thursday from 8:20 am to 8:50 am.
Your child will need to be dropped off at school early to hang up their bag and be lined up ready for Launchpad to begin.

Farewell to Jasmine Gallop
|
|
On behalf of the David Street School Board, staff, and students, we would like to acknowledge Jasmine Gallop and express our heartfelt thanks for her many years of dedication and service to our school.
|
|
|
|
|
For 10 years, Jasmine has generously given her time and energy as both a committee member and Chairperson of the Home & School Committee, often encouraging her husband (Steve), her parents and children to help out.
|
|
David Street School is a better place because of her hard work and dedication. Our children have truly gained from her commitment.
|
|
|
|
|
Jasmine’s children have now all graduated from David Street School, and she is moving on.
|
|
We wish Jasmine all the very best as she begins this exciting new chapter.
|

Room 19 – Building Connections Through Te Ao Māori
Room 19 has been making connections with one another and building positive relationships with our new class friends.
|
|
As part of our Te Ao Māori learning, we have been practising how to ask someone their name and who their whānau are in te reo Māori.
|
We are also learning and practising our pepeha.
|
|
To help us share who we are and where we come from, we have created a visual pepeha that represents our family, our special places, and our connections.
|
|
This has helped us celebrate our identities and learn more about each other.
|
|
|
|
|
Senior School Math
|
In the Kowhai Team, we have been spending time understanding place value up to 1,000,000. As part of our maths lesson, we spend time with the teacher where we practise new learning on our whiteboards. This is where we share our thinking.
|
|
After this, we use our 'Maths No Problem' workbooks to practise what we have just learnt. 1:1 conferencing happens when needed. As part of our rotations, we also engage in maths games, such as using dice and cards to practise our times tables.
|
|

Student Achievement - Congratulations Emily
|
We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievement of one of our students, Emily, who was crowned the 2026 North Island Wakeboarding Champion in February.
|
|
The tournament, held in Mangakino, was an incredible experience for Emily and a true reflection of her dedication and perseverance.
|
|
|
|
Emily’s family shared how proud they are of her hard work, as well as their gratitude for the encouragement and support she receives at school. We are equally proud of her commitment and are delighted to see her success on the regional stage.
|
Looking ahead, Emily will be competing in the National Championships this coming March, which she is extremely excited about.
|
|
We wish her all the best and look forward to seeing the next stage of her wakeboarding journey.
|
|

We were blessed with fabulous weather, and most importantly, the children had a FUN day!

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time to help keep our children safe throughout the day — your support means so much. And to all the parents who stayed behind to help with packing up, we truly appreciate your kindness and teamwork.

Kauri Team Swimming Carnival Results
|
|
A huge thank you to our wonderful parents and caregivers who supported our Kauri Swimming Carnival. Your help with supervision, assisting with race placements, setting up and packing down gazebos, and cheering on our tamariki made the day run smoothly and successfully.
|
|
We truly appreciate the time, energy, and encouragement you gave.
|
|

Please look out for the stickers on individual apples and the cut-out labels on bags of apples. The more stickers we collect, the more FREE sports gear we can get for David Street School.

Splash n' Dash Morrinsville
Last Friday evening at Morrinsville Swimzone Splash n’ Dash was held.
|
It was a perfect warm evening for the run and swim event for school-aged children. Every participant received a certificate and a free swim voucher; there were also fun games throughout the evening. A large number of DSS kids participated.
|

Morrinsville Intermediate
Literacy Centre Tutor vacancy:

We are seeking a passionate learning assistant to support Year 7 and 8 students in our Literacy Centre. The position involves working one-on-one and in small groups using specific literacy programmes, including Steps Web. This is a permanent, full-time (school hours), term-time only position.
|
