Our busy winter term comes to an end tomorrow, Friday, 19 September. We finish at the usual time of 3 pm.

We wish everyone a safe and happy two-week break and look forward to seeing your children back at school on Monday, 6 October.

A reminder that Friday 24 October is a Teacher Only Day and school will be closed to students.

• Please be aware that once your child’s enrolment is confirmed, you will be charged if they are absent unless we have received a minimum of a week’s notice of change.
• We MUST have a completed Safety Form completed on EnrolMy with emergency contacts, pick up persons and any medical conditions we need to be aware of.

Change of Date for Group Day
|
Group Day 2025 will now be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025.
|
|
|

Our Sunsmart Policy requires children to wear school sunhats (supplied) in the playground during Terms 1 and 4.
|
The school charges a small annual fee of $5. If your child started school after Term 1 the cost is $2.50.
|
|
The fee contributes to cleaning, maintenance, and buying new hats.
|
The $5 fee was charged to school accounts at the beginning of the year, and covers the full year.
|
Please log in and check your child's Hero account to see if you have paid. If not, payment can be made via internet banking or at the school office.
|
|
Early next term, statements will be emailed to families with outstanding hat fee balances.
|

The Home and School Committee is a dedicated group of parents working to enhance our school’s learning environment through fundraising. Without parent support for our fundraisers, the committee would not be able to support the children and the school in the way they do.
|
|
Thank you, everyone, for supporting the Home and School Committee's Cookie Fridays, Pizza and Sausage Sizzle lunch fundraisers, as well as our Nothing Naughty Bar fundraiser this term. The Home and School, staff, and children truly appreciate it.
|

We are always seeking more committee members. Keep an eye out in the newsletters for upcoming committee meetings; we would love to see some new faces.

We are still collecting yummy stickers for our school. Drop them into your child's classroom. Last year, with your support, we received over $400 worth of PE equipment!

Carter consistently strives for excellence in all areas of school life. He is such a fast learner because he actively listens and puts in great effort to produce a high standard of work. Carter takes ownership of his learning by seeking feedback and putting it into action. He is a fantastic role model and leader in the Kauri team, often helping others in a humble way. Keep up your amazing attitude and dedication, Carter. You will go far!

Jac-Lyn
Jac-Lyn is a role model student who leads by example in all areas of school life. She is kind, helpful, hardworking, and consistently encompasses all of the David Street School values. She is a pleasure to teach, and I have no doubt she will have a bright future.

Ellie
Ellie received her award for being a respectful student who consistently strives for excellence. She shows perseverance, courage and a wonderful attitude to all areas of school life. We are so proud of Ellie and everything she achieves through your hard work.

Poppy consistently demonstrates the David Street School values in all areas of school life. Poppy puts 100% into her learning, striving to do her best and achieve her goals. She isn’t afraid to be challenged and will seek feedback to ensure she is on track. Poppy has made awesome progress in her learning this year because of her determined approach.
Alongside this, she is a kind and respectful student and peer, making her an asset to Room 9 and David Street School.

Reading with Rotary Awards
Morrinsville Rotary Club and Paper Plus Morrinsville are kindly sponsoring prizes to promote reading in our school and other local schools.
Each term a student from the junior, middle and senior school will be awarded a prize for significant reading progress.

|
Aleetheia
Aleetheia is very focused on her literacy learning and has made wonderful progress. She applies her letter knowledge to her reading and writing. Her reading fluency is greatly improved, and she always has a positive attitude toward her learning.
|
Blake
Blake is a wonderful reader - he can often get lost in a book. Blake has made excellent progress in his reading by being curious and reading a variety of texts.

Mikiah - Principal Award
Mikiah's passion for learning and ability to think deeply about topics are evident. His curiosity and determination to ask insightful questions show a commitment to understanding the world around him. Keep up the awesome mahi, and continue to let your love for learning guide you on your journey
Kaion

Kaion received his award for his hard work and determination in class and during one-on-one literacy lessons. Kaion has made fantastic progress, moving up reading levels, improving the size and speed of his writing in literacy and maths, and showing thoughtful understanding by giving great answers about the stories he reads.

Term 4 Kauri Team Pickleball Competition
|
The Term 4 Kauri Team Pickleball Competition kicked off this week with a lively start!
|
Mrs Hutchings launched the event with clear instructions and a demonstration of the rules, sparking plenty of excitement among our students.
|
Throughout Term 4, pairs from across the Kauri Team will be competing in matches held during morning tea and lunchtime. Senior students are stepping up as umpires, helping to run the rounds smoothly and fairly. With many games to be played, the competition will gradually narrow down to the semi-finals before culminating in the grand final later in the term.
|
|
It has been fantastic to see so much enthusiasm from players and spectators alike. We look forward to following the matches and celebrating the teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill that will shine through as the competition unfolds.

Report an Absence
|
|
It is very important that you notify us when your child will be absent.
|
There are a couple of ways you can do this:

- Phone - 07 889-7780 (option 1) & leave a message
|
Did you know you can send absentee notifications quickly & easily to us through the Hero app? This is the simplest & fastest way to let us know when your child will be absent from school.
|
|
For safety reasons, you must notify us if your child will be away from school. It also saves the office staff a lot of time following up.
