Lessons with MUSIQHUB are held here at David Street School usually on a Friday.

Gumboot Friday is on Friday 1 November.
While we are not collecting money, we will be helping to raise awareness for people struggling with depression. Depression can feel like walking through mud every day. Show your support. Put your gumboots on and take a walk in their shoes for just one day. It's a fun way for kids to join in the mental health conversation.

An Important Message Regarding Scooters at School
We love seeing so many children walk, ride, or scooter to school. It is a great way of keeping active and alleviating the pressure of cars at the gate. However, we must prioritise safety on our school grounds. For this reason, we have rules for children scootering and biking on the school grounds.
Please remember that students cannot ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds before or after school. Students are required to walk their bikes and scooters in or out of school. Recently, we have experienced a few incidents where children scootering on school grounds have caused injuries to an elderly person and several of our younger students. Despite our repeated reminders, some students continue to ride their scooters inside the school.
To ensure everyone's safety, we will notify parents/caregivers of children who do not adhere to these rules. Students who continue to ride scooters on the grounds before or after school will temporarily be prohibited from bringing their bikes or scooters into school for one week.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school safe for everyone!

This term, the Kauri Team are doing a science inquiry into 'Forces'
In Room 11, Mrs Fiebig and Anna have been experimenting with bouncing balls and Newton’s Third Law, "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."
When we hit the ball on the ground, there is an equal and opposite force on the ball in the upward direction due to the ground (Newton's Third Law), which makes it bounce.
We have played with various bounces, the highest, lowest, furthest and on various surfaces. We are having a lot of hands-on learning and experimenting fun!

Room 12 has been exploring the concept of gravity by making paper clip helicopters. Here are some questions we have generated as a class that we will investigate over the coming weeks:
-
Why does the smaller one spin faster than the bigger one?
-
Why does the bigger one travel further than the little one?
-
How does gravity pull things down with nothing around it?
-
-
-
When was gravity discovered?
-
Why do light things not go up?

Become a ‘Friend of the Committee’!
The Home and School Committee is a dedicated group of parents working to enhance our school’s learning environment through fundraising.
But you don’t have to be a full-time member to make a difference!
We’re looking for ‘Friends of the Committee’—volunteers who can lend a hand throughout the year at various events and activities. Whether you can give a little of your time or a lot, every bit helps!
The more helpers we have, the lighter the load and the more we can achieve for our kids.
Join us in making a positive impact—your support means the world!
Register your interest at the link below in becoming a 'Friend of the Committee"
We will then give you a call when events/fundraisers come up to see if you are available.
