Policy Review is an important component of our school organisation and consultation process.

We are a SchoolDocs school, which means we work with SchoolDocs to provide us with a comprehensive set of policies which have been well researched and follow the Ministry of Education National Administration Guidelines.

Continues to use the David Street School values after school and is always exceptionally well-behaved and respectful at Care For Kids.
|
|
Keshav is a respectful student who consistently works hard and strives for excellence in all areas of his learning. He has a can-do attitude and a genuine excitement to learn, always challenging his brain! Keshav sets a wonderful example to his peers, and we are so lucky to have him in Room 21. Ka mau te wehi, Keshav!
|
|
Kiana is a shining example of kindness, responsibility, and positivity. She consistently puts in great effort to complete all her school work to a high standard and approaches each day with a bright smile and an uplifting attitude. Her hardworking nature and joyful spirit make her a valued member of our school community. Ka mau te wehi- Awesome work, Kiana!

Jack has a fantastic attitude towards his learning and is keen to give everything a go. He works hard on his learning goals and will persevere when they are tricky, such as learning some of his times table facts! Jack has shown his kind and respectful nature by being super welcoming to our new student in Room 8, and he is always keen to lend a helping hand when needed. We are lucky to have you at our kura, Jack!

Nathan received his award for an exceptional attitude toward all of his learning. He thinks critically about our Concept learning by asking curious questions and sharing thoughts with his peers. Nathan is always looking for ways to challenge himself, learn from his mistakes, and keep getting better. He is a fantastic role model for others and does so with a generous smile!
|
|
Received her award for being a responsible and respectful learner who ensures her mahi is always done to a very high standard. She is often found helping her classmates and being a supportive leader within Room 16. Brodie shows such excellence when learning the Year 1 poem, “Poppy, Poppy” (during the school holidays) and reciting this so beautifully during our ANZAC service for a very large audience. Ka rawe Brodie!

Received her award for her positive attitude and love of learning, making her a role model to others. She takes on every learning challenge with a smile and enjoys learning about new concepts. Every day, Amy shows the David Street values. She participates and contributes to our class discussions, takes pride in her work and brings a sense of humour to our class.

Planter Box Donation
Our school garden has received a beautifully crafted planter box, donated by former David Street School student Johno Walton.
|
|
Johno built the planter box as part of the Certified Builders Apprenticeship Challenge, held at Cambridge Mitre 10, where he placed 4th in the regional competition.
|
|
He currently works with Lehman Builders and is on his way to completing his apprenticeship.
|
Johno generously donated the planter box to the David Street School Garden Group, who are excited to get planting and put it to good use!

Space Centre Te Awamutu - Kauri Trip
|
|
Out of This World Adventure at Te Awamutu Space Centre!
|
|
Last week, our Kauri Team students had unforgettable trips to the Te Awamutu Space Centre, a fantastic museum and activity hub for all ages. The centre's heart is its amazing collection of artifacts and memorabilia, alongside engaging information displays about space and astronomy.
|
|
There was something for everyone, including interactive exhibits, games, toys, puzzles, and even virtual reality! (Yes, every student and adult got a turn!)
|
|
Even those who thought space wasn’t their thing came away fascinated and inspired. The kids had an absolute blast exploring the wonders of the universe—and for some, the highlight was even the fun-filled bus ride there and back! Each day was a stellar day of learning, laughter, and discovery.
|

Basketball Fun Day is being held on Friday, 30 May at the Morrinsville Westpac Trust Events Centre. The David Street School leadership students run this day with support from teachers. The focus of the day is on participation and fun (no scores are kept).
|
|
This year, Basketball Fun Day is open to Year 5 and 6 students. The day runs from 11:30 am – 2.30 pm.
|
|
We will be entering several teams, with priority being given to those players who have not played before and those who get their permission slips and payments in first.
|

The annual Rugby Netball Funday is coming up on Tuesday, 20 May 2025 (with a postponement day on Thursday, 22 May 2025).

The Fun Day aims to promote Rugby and Netball while focusing on enjoyment, teamwork, and fair play.
The Rugby Netball Funday will take place at Campbell Park Netball and Rugby Grounds from 10:00 am to 2:15 pm. The event will be divided into age-specific divisions:

Inclusive Play with the Halberg Foundation
This week, Lawrence Wilkinson from the Halberg Foundation visited our school to work with some of our middle school students and staff.
Lawrence guided both children and staff through fun and practical activities that showed just how easy it can be to adapt games and sports, making them inclusive for classmates with mobility challenges.

The Halberg Foundation was founded on the belief that all people, regardless of their ability, should have equal opportunity to enhance their lives through sport and recreation.
|

Report an Absence

It is very important that you notify us when your child will be absent.
|
There are a couple of ways you can do this:

Did you know you can send absentee notifications quickly & easily to us through the School App? This is the simplest & fastest way to let us know when your child will be absent from school.
|
|
For safety reasons, you must notify us if your child will be away from school. It also saves the office staff a lot of time following up.
