Ned's Mindset Mission
We are excited to welcome the NED’s Mindset Mission Roadshow for Year 1-6 students to our school on Wednesday 9th August.
NED’s Mindset Mission is a positive behaviour programme where the facilitator will take our students on an interactive educational journey filled with storytelling, illusions, yo-yo tricks and humour.
NED’s message and memorable friends inspire students, promote academic achievement, that support our school values.
The show is FREE to schools, all we are asked to do is promote the sale of the NED 'yoyo' - this is a way of paying it forward so that this great show can continue to be offered free of charge to schools.
Should you wish to do so, Yo Yos can be ordered and purchased through the school office with either cash or eftpos, they will be for sale from Wednesday 9th August through until Tuesday 16th August.
Order forms will go home with children on Wednesday 9th August.

Recipients of the Principal Awards were:
Alyssa received her award for having an awesome start to the term and working super hard on her learning goals. She has come such a long way in her learning and shows a positive attitude in all areas! Keep up the amazing mahi!
Talia is a respectful student who always strives for excellence. We can always count on Talia to be a role model and do the right thing. Every day she asks if she can help and takes pride in being a tidy Kiwi. Well done Talia!
Mackenzie received her award for her continued growth in all her learning. She strives to achieve her learning goals and asks questions to gain a deeper understanding. Mackenzie, you are a role model!
Kaya, is always striving for excellence and pushing herself to be the best she can be. Her confidence is flourishing and she is taking risks in her learning. Kaya is growing into a wonderful, kind leader who is always on task and showing initiative by helping others whenever it is needed.
Elias received his award for his mana and leadership in kapa haka and in our classroom. He is a role model in the way he shows integrity and respect. Elias genuinely cares about others and leads the way with his actions.

Winter Sport
We have been extremely busy with sports this term.
The local schools Basketball and Hockey competitions are under way with school practises during the week and games on Wednesdays (basketball) and Friday (hockey).
The local schools Gym Sport Festival is coming up on Friday 11 August . Practises are being held at lunchtimes here at school. Unfortunately the trampoline event has been cancelled. The trampoline fee will be credited to the school accounts of those children who were involved.
Leotards: Does anyone have any spare leotards that they would like to donate or we can borrow? We have a large number of gymnasts at David Street School this year and not enough leotards, sizes from size 6 to size 14. If you can help us out please email or let Sam Niven know.
email: samanthan@davidst.school.nz
Netball has now finished. Please return any netball uniforms you have so we can process your netball bond.
Any overdue sport registration fees would be very much appreciated.
Here is your hockey draw for this Friday 4 August.
Please check the Hockey Draw for which venue you are playing at.

School Bus Safety
A reminder for caregivers:
It is your responsibility to supervise your children prior to your child/children boarding the school bus in the morning and once they get off the school bus in the afternoon.
This is especially pertinent during the winter months as visibility is poorer due to the time of year and the weather conditions.
School buses are not able to wait at bus stops for children to be collected so it is important that caregivers are there when their children exit the bus.
Be Safe - Be Seen
David Street School children who catch the school bus must wear their yellow bus vest. Please ensure your bus child takes care of them and wears them every day when using the bus.

PIZZA LUNCH and COOKIE FRIDAYS

Our FAQ page and "About our School Shops" are great places to go to for any questions you may have on how to create an account and order.
Please make sure your child's classroom number is correct or your child's order may end up going to the wrong classroom.
Pizza Lunch - If your child is away the day of Pizza Lunch, we are not able to transfer the order to another day, as we pre-order and pay for pizzas from Pizza Hut the day before.

You are more than welcome to pop down at lunch time and pick up your child's order should they be away from school on that day. Thank you for your understanding.
