Learner Conversations

It was fantastic to see so many families attend our Learner Conversations on Monday and
Wednesday afternoon/evenings. Thank you.
Parents were overwhelmingly positive about their children’s learning. It makes a big difference to our students when they see parents and teachers together on their team, and that their progress and achievement is important to all of us.

Thank You !

Thank you to ex David Street School students, Ella Chambers and Rhiannon Hampton, who have volunteered their time to help our Gym Sport students. They have choreographed the dances and taken their time to come down and teach the kids. The students have really enjoyed it and we are very thankful.
The local schools Gym Sport Festival is being held at the Morrinsville Events Centre on Friday 11 August - for Yr3 – Yr 6 children who have registered.

Sunblock Donation

David Street School parents, Jasmine Gollop and Steve Davie, have kindly donated sunblock for all the classrooms!
Thank you Jasmine and Steve we really appreciate your support.

Senior School Camp Term 4

This is a reminder that the senior school students will be going to camp in week 4 of Term 4. Our rescheduled dates are Monday October 30th to Friday November 3rd 2023.
  • Ako Kea will be going from Monday 30th October to Wednesday 1st November
  • Ako Tui will be going from Wednesday 1st November to Friday 3rd November
As the camp is now for two nights instead of three the cost will be less however we are unable to confirm the new cost just yet but anticipate it will be around $200 per student. We will confirm this by the end of this term.

In the meantime you can start paying for your child's camp via :
  • The David Street School Shop. Make payments in instalments by credit/debit card.
  • Internet Banking. Payment can be made via internet banking to our David Street School account 12-3437-0000066-00 (please reference your child's name and 'camp' when you are paying)
  • Eftpos or Cash at the school office.
More information will be sent home towards the middle of August regarding the camp organisation and any refunds for those who have already paid the original full camp price.
If you have already paid the original full amount, we will organise a refund or add a credit to your school account. Again, this will be confirmed soon.
Entry forms have been handed out to children who wish to enter Livestock Day. Entry forms and along with the $5 registration fee need to be returned to the school office by Tuesday 5 September

Matariki Celebrations

Last week we had a special morning celebrating Matariki with friends and whānau.
Thank you everyone who attended our celebrations. The children were excited to show you what they had been learning about Matariki and the Māori New Year.

Sports Information and Draws

Netball Uniforms

Netball has finished for the season and all netball uniforms, and shirts (from our younger players), should be returned to school so we can process your netball uniform bond of $10 (Yrs 3-6) and collate and put uniforms away for next season.

Hockey Season

Hockey begins tomorrow, Friday 28 July, for those Yr 3 – Yr6 players who registered last term.
Please check the Hockey Draw for which venue you are playing at.
Must have: Mouth guard, shin pads, hockey stick (we do have a few hockey sticks at school that can be borrowed for the game).
If you have any questions regarding the hockey competition please speak to Rebecca Bracey who is your school contact for Hockey.
