Absentees
|
The absence line is available 24 hours 889-7780 ext 1 or you can use our School App to notify us when your child is away.
|
|
If your child is unwell please keep them at home and contact the School Office before 9am to let us know.

Communication
|
Our School App is the primary tool for communicating important updates and information with our school community. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to download it today. Through the app, you can also notify the school of any absences.

Morrinsville Miniball – Term 1
Completed Miniball Permission to Play forms must be returned to school by tomorrow, Friday 7 March.
|
Open to: Year 4, Year 5 & 6
|
|
This year, there is a slight change in how Miniball is paid.
|
|
Payments will be made directly to the Basketball Association using their Gameday link.
|
|
|
|
|
A notice has gone home with children who have shown an interest in playing, it is also available on our school website: Miniball 2025 Notice

The link for payment will be provided to you at a later date once teams have been organised.

Junior Water Fun Day
Yesterday our Juniors spent the morning at Morrinsville Pools, it is wonderful to have such an amazing resource available for the community to use.
We want to extend a huge thank you to all the parent helpers who joined us for a fun-filled morning at the pools. Your support allowed our students to have a safe and enjoyable time in the water. We feel so grateful to have such a strong and supportive network.

Home and School Committee AGM meeting is being held on the 7th March at 9.00 am in the school Board / Meeting room (located in the Office block).

Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser
|
We are excited to announce our Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser in partnership with Coupland's Bakery!
|
|
|
|
|
Dates: Orders Open Monday, 3 March and Close in Week 8.
|

The price is $5.50 for a bag of 6 buns.
|
|
This fundraiser will be run through our Home and School Shop, similar to our recent licorice fundraiser.
|
|
Hot Cross Bun orders will be available for pick-up before Easter. We will confirm the exact pick-up date as soon as possible.
|
|

Lollies, Lolly Pops, Cakes, Birthday Treats and other celebrations.
|
In the past, we noticed that families had been increasingly sharing sweet treats and food with their children's classes. While we truly appreciate the kind intentions behind this, it had become challenging to manage.
|
As a result, we made the decision to no longer allow the sharing of sweet treats and food in classrooms for the following reasons:
|
- A great many parents do not allow their children any sugar drinks, treats nor
food for any reason, including health, behavioural reasons or safety of their child.
- Parents say they feel pressure from their children to provide birthday treats because
their friends have.
- Children become ‘hyped up’ after the treat, compromising both learning and
behaviour.
- Schools promote healthy eating
|
We appreciate your understanding. While sharing sugary treats is no longer allowed at school, we still love hearing about and will continue to acknowledge our students' joyful family celebrations.
|

After-School Messages for Students
|
If you need to send an after-school message for your child, please call the school office by 2:20 pm to ensure we have enough time to pass the message on before the afternoon bell rings.
|
|
We kindly ask that you avoid sending private messages regarding after-school arrangements or absences, as these are not always checked promptly during the busy school day. This helps us ensure that important messages are relayed to your child on time.
|
|
Late to School /Appointments
|
If your child arrives late to school, please have them sign in at the office before heading to class.
|
|
For a smooth start to the day, we encourage students to arrive between 8:30 am and 8:45 am so they can settle in and be ready for the school day to begin at 8:55 am.
|
|
If your child needs to leave school early (for a doctor or dentist appointment, etc.), they must be signed out at the office by a parent or guardian.
|
|
If someone else will be picking up your child, please notify the office in advance by phone.
|
|
General Information
|
|
Lost Property
|
Each Term we always have extremely large amount of lost property. We do our best to manage and ensure lost property is returned to the owner. Please name your child’s clothing, including towels, togs and goggles. This helps us get items back to where they belong.
|
|
Any lost property not claimed each term is donated to charity.
|
|
Bell Times
8.15am Children may enter school
8.55am Start of the school day
11.00am – 11.30am Morning interval
12.45pm - 1.30pm Lunch interval
2.45pm Bus Bell
3.00pm End of the school day

Sun Smart Policy – School Hat Fees
Our Sun Smart Policy requires that children must wear school sunhats (supplied) in the playground during Terms 1 and 4.
The School charges a small fee of $5 per annum. This fee goes towards maintenance (cleaning and purchasing new hats.
|
|
|
|
|
We are able to charge this minimal fee because the Home and School Committee put towards the cost of hats from money raised through fundraising.
|
Please check your Hero Financial account as Hat Fees have now been loaded. For those with credit on their school account, hat fees have been taken from this.
|
Payments
|
Fees can be paid via our David Street School Shop or by Internet Banking to our school account is a convenient way for many parents to make payments for our after-school care program (CFK) and school-related items like sports fees etc...

When using Internet banking to pay for school-related items/fees please remember to reference what you are paying for and if applicable your child's name so we can allocate your payment to the correct place.
e.g Johnny Smith / Camp or reference CFK if you are paying for your child's after-school care program.
