Our busy term comes to an end tomorrow. School finishes Friday the 27th of September, at the usual time of 3 pm.
|
|
We wish everyone a safe and happy two-week break and look forward to seeing your children back at school on Monday 14th October.

Enrolments 2025
If you have a child starting at David Street School in 2025, please contact the school office on 889-7780 and check if we have your correct details on file.
|
If you have not informed us of your pre-schooler starting with us in 2025, please also contact the school office so we can enter their details onto our enrolment list.
This will help us with our planning for next year.

Principal Values Awards
|
David Street School celebrates children showing our values in their behaviour and actions at school. The recipients of the Principal Awards each receive a certificate and a book.
|
Sophie is a shining example of showing curiosity and excellence in every aspect of her schooling life. Her enthusiasm towards learning is infectious. She actively shares her ideas while respectfully listening to others, inspiring those around her. Sophie is always eager to learn more, she asks thoughtful questions that deepen her understanding and spark engaging discussions—well done Sophie!

Laylah van Rooyen
Laylah received her award for the growth she has shown in all areas of her learning. She is more confident when tackling learning tasks and this has been noticed by all of her teachers. Laylah asks for help when it is needed, but she is also one of the first to offer support to others too. Every day she turns up with a positive attitude and the best smile! Well done Laylah.

Kaelynn received her award for her positive attitude. She always shows excellence during learning time to do your best. Kaelynn demonstrates Kia Maia in her learning by giving all learning a go, even when it feels tricky! Keep being amazing!

Ava Parker
Ava is a passionate learner. She loves to learn new things and has been so clever with blending sounds together to read and write words. Ava has been working on her maths goals and loves to share what she knows.
|

Penelope is an outstanding role model of all the David Street School values. She shows excellence in everything she does, pushing herself to give 100% in all areas. Penelope is a dedicated learner, she always listens carefully and applies new learning with enthusiasm.

Today, we're thrilled to cheer on Harper, New Zealand’s under-nine wakeboarding champion as she competes at the World Wakeboarding Champs this week on the Gold Coast.

Ukes Cool
|
Here are some great photos of ‘Ukulele John’ (John Howlett) working with our middle school ukulele group!

Every Wednesday at lunchtime, John leads a small group of enthusiastic middle school students passionate about playing the ukulele. They always have a blast learning new songs together!

Tuakana- Teina Time
|
Each Friday morning a group of our DSS Tuakana and Whaea Brenda visit our Teina in Room 17 to share and teach the younger students Te Reo Maori, Waiata, and Traditional Maori games. Both the senior Tuakana and our youngest Teina students thoroughly enjoy this opportunity to form relationships across the school. Our Room 17 new entrants are so excited for the visit and the opportunity to learn from such great role models each week.

Soccer Hockey Fun Day
|
On Monday some of our students attended the annual Soccer Hockey Fun Day at the Morrinsville Recreation Grounds.
|
|
It is a wonderful opportunity for children to try out a new sport.
|
|
Thank you to our parent helpers for spending the day with us, and supporting our students on and off the field.

Riding for the Disabled has a long-established history in New Zealand, providing therapeutic riding programmes to those with physical, intellectual, emotional or social challenges. Last year, I spoke to Rotary Morrinsville Cambridge RDA, with the goal being to raise awareness and reinvigorate community support for the Te Aroha & Cambridge Riding for the Disabled Groups. As a not-for-profit organisation, continual fundraising is required to meet the cost of running the therapeutic riding programmes.

What will the event look like? Just good old-fashioned fun!
Bring your picnic and enjoy a family day out with live music, sausage sizzle, garden walks, games for the young and the young at heart, karaoke, garden trail, quad bike rides, a visit from Marvellous Monty and more.
