Piako Cultural Festival at Morrinsville Events Centre
|
We have 76 children from our kapa haka Performance Group at the Piako Cultural Festival today.
|
|
Held at the Morrinsville Events Centre, it is always such an amazing event which is a highlight for our kapa haka children. Our students are scheduled to perform at 1.30 pm and are looking forward to performing for you. We hope you can join us.

As photos are ordered online, we’ll be sharing parent email addresses with Photolife so they can send your unique order codes directly to you.

If you do not wish for your email address to be provided to Photolife, please contact the school office by Thursday 28 August, so we can exclude you from the list.

Touch Rugby Sessions
|
This week our Year 3 - 6 students had the opportunity to take part in touch rugby skills sessions run by Waikato Touch.
|
|
The children had a fantastic time and really enjoyed being outside in the sunshine while learning some new skills.
|

Anahera
Consistently shows our values across all learning areas. She is always striving for excellence in everything she does. She actively takes ownership of her learning by seeking feedback and putting it into action. Anahera is a kind, caring and courteous member of the Kowhai team who is an absolute superstar. We know that she is going to continue to grow into a great leader. We can’t wait to see all that she achieves!

Olivia
Olivia received her award for all her dedication and commitment to excellence in everything she does. She consistently tackles challenges with courage, is always willing to help others, and brings positive energy to every situation. Olivia's hard work, commitment to the values, and sense of humour make her an asset not only to the Kauri Team but also to David Street School.
|
|
Lily received her award for striving for excellence in everything that she does. She consistently works hard to extend her knowledge, takes on feedback and applies it to her learning.
|
|
Lily brings a wonderful, positive attitude to her learning and is a fantastic role model for those around her. She is a fantastic DSS learner who shows all the values, and we are so proud of all the growth she has made!
|
|
Liana received her award for always being kind, helpful, and happy. She brightens our classroom with her positive attitude and caring nature. By showing Respect, Responsibility, and Excellence every day, Liana makes our school a place where everyone feels supported and valued. Thank you for always being ready to help and for spreading happiness wherever you go!

Ollie is an outstanding young man. He has taken on Year 6 leadership roles with ease, and he is a role model for everyone around him. Ollie has been taking responsibility for his learning in the classroom by striving for excellence, ensuring that he is honest if he needs help.
|
|
He always has a good attitude toward learning new concepts and sharing his knowledge. Keep up the amazing work, Ollie - We are super proud of your efforts!

Carter
Carter received his award for demonstrating exceptional courage and empathy by standing up for what is right and advocating for others. Carter embodies the true spirit of Kia Māia.

His actions reflect bravery, compassion, and a deep commitment to our shared values.
Arshpreet
|
|
Arshpreet received her award for being the epitome of a David Street Learner. She pushes herself, helps others, takes risks and does it all with a big smile! We are so lucky to have Arshpreet in Ako Tui. Keep being you, and you will continue to shine in all that you do.

We are still collecting yummy stickers for our school. Drop them into your child's classroom. Last year, with your support, we received over $400 worth of PE equipment!

Waikato Regional Gymsport
|
We recently had three of our students represent our school at the Waikato Regional Gymsport Competition in Hamilton.
|
|
To qualify for this event, each student had to qualify at the Piako Gymsport Festival.
|
|
Amelia and Elliot competed in the Novice division, while Megan took part in the Competitive session. All three students showed incredible dedication in preparing their routines.
|
|
A special congratulations to Elliot, who placed first in the Year 5–6 Flyers Girls category — an outstanding achievement!
|
Megan is competing today, and we wish her the very best of luck.

Report an Absence
|
|
It is very important that you notify us when your child will be absent.
|
There are a couple of ways you can do this:

- Our School App
- Phone - 07 889-7780 (option 1) & leave a message
|
Did you know you can send absentee notifications quickly & easily to us through the Hero app? This is the simplest & fastest way to let us know when your child will be absent from school.
|
|
For safety reasons, you must notify us if your child will be away from school. It also saves the office staff a lot of time following up.
|
