Maths in the Junior School
Maths is all around us. When your child packs their bag, they must consider if everything will fit - that's measurement.
When we tell our children to be quick or we will be late - that's time. When we bake a cake - that's fractions, measurement, and time.
Our maths programmes link learning to everyday life and concepts so there is an authentic context. Our programmes are heavily number focused and we build on each number concept in a structured way to ensure success. Here are some examples of the independent and guided maths activities the children experience daily as part of our maths programmes.

Junior Poi
The Junior Team is fortunate to have Whaea Garrud come in each week on Raatu (Tuesday), to teach Te Ao Maaori. During the year we have been learning many Maaori phrases and Maaori words that link in with our concept learning. Last week, Whaea Garrud bought some poi for class. We learned some basic moves and practiced them to E Rere Taku Poi and an old classic 'Poi E'.

Want to Help but can’t Commit to the Home and School Committee?
Become a ‘Friend of the Committee’!
The Home and School Committee is a dedicated group of parents working to enhance our school’s learning environment through fundraising.
But you don’t have to be a full-time member to make a difference!
We’re looking for ‘Friends of the Committee’—volunteers who can lend a hand throughout the year at various events and activities. Whether you can give a little of your time or a lot, every bit helps!
The more helpers we have, the lighter the load and the more we can achieve for our kids.
Join us in making a positive impact—your support means the world!
Register your interest at the link below in becoming a 'Friend of the Committee"
We will then give you a call when events/fundraisers come up to see if you are available.
