Enrolments 2025

If you have a child starting at David Street School in 2025, please contact the school office on 889-7780 and check if we have your correct details on file.

If you have not informed us of your pre-schooler starting with us in 2025, please also contact the school office so we can enter their details onto our enrolment list.
This will help us with our planning for next year.

Gumboot Friday is on Friday 1 November.

While we are not collecting money, we will be helping to raise awareness for people struggling with depression.
Depression can feel like walking through mud every day.
Show your support. Put your gumboots on and take a walk in their shoes for just one day.
It's a fun way for kids to join in the mental health conversation.

Parking

We are saddened to have had several complaints from concerned neighbours on David Street who have had school parents park across their driveways.

This situation has become increasingly concerning, as some neighbours have felt threatened and shaken after experiencing abuse when asking drivers to move their vehicles.
Only park in designated parking spots and never across a neighbour’s driveway—even if it’s just for a minute! It is both illegal and inconsiderate to block driveways while dropping off or picking up children. Additionally, please remember that broken yellow lines indicate NO STOPPING, so dropping off or picking up passengers in those areas is also illegal.

Other areas of concern are:

David Street School Turnaround Area:
This area is designated for quick drop-offs only before school; please do not park and leave your car here. After school, this area becomes very busy for student pickups. To prioritise student safety, we do not allow cars to stop at the turnaround area after school (marked with cones and yellow lines). This policy helps prevent children from running into the road and ensures a smooth flow of traffic.

Staff Car Park:
Please note that the staff car park is reserved for staff and Disability Permit Holders only. Disability parks at the school are not a quick drop-off zone. Please do not park in these spaces unless you have a Permit.
This restriction is in place to ensure safety around vehicles during the busy morning and afternoon drop-off and pickup times.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school community safe and respectful.

Livestock Day

Livestock Day is Next Thursday 24 October at St Joseph School. Whaea Ash will be getting an information sheet to each entrant before then.
Group Day is Thursday 31st of October, we strongly encourage any ribbon winners to enter Group Day to represent David Street School. Please see Whaea Ash at Livestock Day for a Group Day information sheet and bring along $5 cash for the Group Day Entry Fee.

Super Smash Cricket

This week our Senior, Middle and Junior teams all had the opportunity to practice cricket skills through the Super Smash Cricket program, delivered by the Northern Districts Cricket Association. The program focuses on fundamental skills such as catching, striking, and throwing. It was a lot of fun and a great way of learning some new skills.
