Final Call for Basketball (miniball) and Gymnastic Sign-Up
Basketball is for Yr4/5/6 children who wish to play.
|
- Basketball starts in Term 3 and is played at the Morrinsville Events Centre on Wednesdays after school.
- Gymnastics is for those Y3 to Yr 6 children who wish to enter the Morrinsville Gymnastic Competition.
- Hockey sign ups close on Monday for those Yr 3 /4/5/6 children who wish to play next term. The Hockey Competition starts in Term 3 and is played on Fridays after school. There is a limit on the number of teams we are able to register for Hockey. Sorry, once the quota is filled we cannot take any more registrations.

Registration must be done by Friday for Basketball and Gymnastics and Monday for Hockey. To register pop on to our school shop, link below.

David Street School presents
'Change' Art Exhibition at the Wallace Gallery
|
David Street School is proud to present our art exhibit at the Wallace Art Gallery in Morrinsville. The exhibit opens today in the Community Gallery and will run over the school holidays. Every child in the school has a piece of art on display either on the boards or in a folder at the gallery.

We are so lucky to have the Wallace Gallery in Morrinsville to showcase our children's art.
|
|
All classes are going to the gallery and we invite you to come along with your child's class and to pop along with whaanau and friends over the next three weeks.
|
|
|
|
Principal Awards
|
David Street School celebrates children who have been showing our values in their behaviour and actions at school. The recipients of the Principal Awards each receive a certificate and a book.

Melany is always displaying the David Street School Values in and outside of the classroom.
|
She is courageous and pushes herself out of her comfort zone in her learning and does it all with a smile on her face. Melany is a hard working role model and an awesome member of Room 13!

Rico
Rico always aims for excellence in all areas of his learning. He works hard to achieve his learning goals and consistently displays the school values.Rico is a role model for others throughout the school. Ka mau te wehi!

Khody
Khody is a respectful David Street School student who puts 110% effort into everything he does, inside and outside the classroom. As a self-aware learner, Khody seeks feedback in his learning to get the most out of every opportunity. He asks questions to deepen his understanding and has great enthusiasm towards his learning. Keep up the good work Khody!

Vogue
Vogue is a great role model within the Kauri Team. She is dedicated to trying her best in all areas of school life. Vogue is a self aware learner who works hard to demonstrate excellence by completing her learning tasks to a very high standard. She has such a positive attitude towards all areas of her learning and she is never afraid to take risks and challenge herself.

Aubree
Aubree received her award for being an outstanding learner in all aspects of School. She pushes herself to do her best every single time. Aubree gets involved in all areas of school life and is a wonderful team member.

Consistently displays the David Street School values inside and outside the classroom. Jadis always takes responsibility for his learning and strives for excellence in all he does. Jadis is a fantastic role model to those around him. Ka pai Jadis!

Reading with Rotary Awards
|
|
|
|
Morrinsville Rotary Club and Paper Plus Morrinsville kindly sponsor prizes to promote reading in our school and other local schools.
|
|
Each term a student from the junior, middle and senior school will be awarded a prize for significant reading progress. The students receive a voucher to buy a book at Paper Plus and a certificate.
|
|
On Monday our Term 1 recipients were announced by Vince Crispe from Rotary and Tracey Waite from Morrinsville Paper Plus.
|
|
|
|
The recipients of the Reading with Rotary Awards were:
Emma
Emma received her award for having a fantastic attitude towards reading. She wants to learn and share her learning. She is progressing every day!

Layne
Layne received his award for making progress not only with blending and segmenting but also with his attitude and approach to reading.
|

Mud Run 2023
|
Some of our Year 5 and Year 6 students had the opportunity to attend the annual Mud Run held at Ngaruawahia yesterday. The children had so much fun as you can see from the photos. Made all the more exciting by the gallons of mud!
|
|
Thank you to parents that attended and supplied transport, comments from parents have confirmed what a great event this is.

Lost Property
We have a few jackets that have been unclaimed. This is a final call out as these will be donated to charity next week.

Unfortunately we cannot keep unclaimed items as we do not have the capacity to store them. Please name your children's clothing so we can get your belongings back to you.
|
|
Unclaimed property will be put out most Mondays for viewing. It is always available for parents to view during the school day.

|
An amazing effort by all our David Street School cross country runners at the Morrinsville District inter-school cross country last Friday.

- Please be aware once your child’s enrolment is confirmed you will be charged if they are absent unless we have received a minimum of a weeks’ notice of change.
- We MUST have a completed Safety Form completed on EnrolMy with emergency contacts, pick up persons and any medical conditions we need to be aware of. If we do not hold this information, then unfortunately your child will not be able to attend.

Matamata Public Libraries
Coming up in July we have 2 awesome reading challenges to help you get through winter.
Matariki winter reading challenge is for those aged 5-15 and includes activities available during the school holidays.
All the feels is for everyone, and is a fun way to track your reading and learn about emojis and emotions.

Monthly working bees usually take place every 3rd Saturday of the month, 1pm-3pm at the log hauler site.
|
|
There are exceptions to this schedule though (e.g. public holiday weekends), and those on the Friends of Pukemokemoke mailing list are notified of working bee dates and tasks.
