Teacher Only Day (curriculum development)

School is closed to all students for a Teacher Only professional learning day.
|
School resumes on Wednesday 5 June.
|
Our Care for Kids programme will be running for those who require it on Tuesday 4 June (limited numbers). Bookings are required.
Cost per day is HALF DAY - (5hrs or less) $33.75
FULL DAY - (over 5hrs) $45.00
|
Bookings can be made through our booking system, which we use for Before and After School Care and holiday programme bookings.

Making Poi
|
Tomorrow Friday 31 May from 1.30 pm -2.45 pm in the school hall we will be making practice poi and would love some parents to help.
To be environmentally friendly, we won't be using plastic bags, so we kindly ask for any old t-shirts or knit fabric for the poi, as well as old hair ties or elastics. The rest of the materials will be provided, but if you have dressmaker scissors, please bring those along.

As part of Cross Country running we will be holding two separate events.

The first event is a Cross Country Run where placings will be recorded. This will be held on Wednesday 5th June at Campbell Park.

The second event is a whole school Fun run event at school for all students, no placings will be recorded. This will be held on Friday 7th June. More details early next week.

Principal Awards

David Street School celebrates children showing our values in their behaviour and actions at school.

The recipients of the Principal Awards each receive a certificate and a book.

Inara continuously shows excellence and works hard towards achieving success in her learning. She can always be relied upon to make great choices, and all her peers and classmates look up to her! Well done, Inara!

Coen is a courageous and enthusiastic learner! He listens carefully and works hard to put new learning into practice as quickly as he can. He is diligent and focused and has a strong can-do attitude, willing to give everything his best. Coen loves learning and his eager energy motivates and inspires those around him.

Liam received his award for outstanding awareness about the world around you! He questions, wonders and then does something about it. As well as being such an exquisite learner, Liam demonstrates kindness to everyone around him. Liam, you are a highly valued member of the Kowhai Team.

Lou received his award for being a curious explorer, he is always eager to learn and discover. He loves learning and listens carefully to others and asks thoughtful questions with purpose. Keep being a star!

Ashriel continuously strives for excellence and works hard every day to achieve your learning goals. Your kind and caring nature towards your peers and teachers is truly appreciated and helps make our classroom a lovely space. We look forward to all the wonderful things you will accomplish this year and beyond!

Astro Turf Update
|
We are excited to be getting a new astroturf playing surface installed on our uncovered courts. This process has begun with safety fences going up today.
|
The fences will be up for approximately 2 weeks. The blue lines on the map below indicate where the fencing will be.
While the fences are in place the uncovered courts will be blocked off completely. This means middle school students (Years 3&4) and whanau must access their classes via the covered courts or from around the back of the Senior School (Te Ao Marama) as indicated with the red arrows.
The covered courts will still be open and able to be used.
We look forward to seeing the new courts opened later in June.

Nothing Naughty bars arrived this week and have gone home with children or been picked up. If you have not picked up your order please do so as soon as possible, they are available to pick up from the school office.

Ice Blocks have now changed to Mondays every Monday this term.

A group of senior students were chosen to participate in the Waikato Literacy Association Young Authors Conference. This event brings together talented authors from across the Waikato region to inspire and engage young writers.
|
|
The conference was a day filled with fun and learning, providing our students with the opportunity to interact with established authors and gain valuable insights into the world of writing.
|
|
|
