Diabetes Awareness Day - Next Thurs 14 Nov.

We will be wearing BLUE on Thursday next week to show support for children with diabetes.
Type 1 Diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and is an autoimmune disease. The immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin. People with type 1 diabetes need to inject insulin to live. More information about diabetes and Blue Day can be found at the following link: https://www.diabetes.org.nz/

Food Drive for Community House – Mon 2 Dec – Fri 6 Dec

Around Christmas time there are always more people who struggle, especially now
with the cost of living going up.
To do our bit to help, we are collecting donations of food from Monday 2 Dec.
• Our Christmas Sleigh will be set up in the office entrance.
• Children can take their non-perishable food item to their classroom and we will
collect it during the day and place it in our Christmas.
• Food will be delivered to Community House for distribution.

Dress-Up Day Friday 6 December

We will be having a fun Summer Holiday / Christmas theme dress-up day on Friday 6 December. Please don’t buy anything for your child to wear. We will be using what

Middle and Senior School Athletics Day

Kōwhai & Kauri Athletics – Tuesday, 12 November (Years 3-6)

Athletics Day is next week for our Middle and Senior school children! Below is an outline for the day.
Schedule:
  • Start time: 9:10 am (approximately)
  • Lunch Break: 12:30 pm
  • Sprint Finals & Relays: After lunch, starting around 1:40 pm. Spectators are welcome to stay and watch from the bank.
  • Rotation: Each age group will rotate through events in approximately 20-25 minute intervals.
Please note, the times are approximate, and the schedule may vary. We recommend arriving early if you plan to watch.

Weather Postponement:
If the weather causes a postponement, we will notify parents via the school app and our Facebook page on the morning of Athletics Day.

High Jump and Long Jump Qualifying:
Students have already pre-qualified for the District Athletics in both High Jump and Long Jump. On the day, there will be a competition jump as well as a jump for non-qualifying children.
Students will know in advance if they have qualified. This process helps us manage time constraints and ensure everything runs smoothly during the day.

We look forward to seeing you all there for a fun and competitive day of athletics!

Children Leaving Early on Athletics Day
The expectation is that children are to remain at school after Athletics Day
If parents/caregivers do need to sign their children out early, you must do so at the school office.
A Reminder: If anyone other than parents/caregivers is signing children out, please inform the school office in advance, via email at office@davidst.school.nz or by phone at 8897780.
Please include details of who will be signing out your child/children.
This applies even if the person signing out is already authorised for pick-up. The person signing your child out of school will need to do so at the school office.

Community House Donation

A group of Kowhai Students decided to organise a fundraiser event for Make it Monday.
We wanted to raise money for the Morrinsville Community House to go towards their Christmas parcels.
It was a great day, and we had lots of fun! We raised over $200 by selling marshmallow sticks, lemonade, bracelets, and small chocolate puddings, all handmade by the students.
Community House was very happy to receive our gift of $262.80.
We want to send a big THANK YOU to all those who offered donations towards our fundraiser, which helped make our day a great success.

Gumboot Friday

Thank you everyone for supporting this great cause. Here are a few photos from last Friday.

The Home and School Committee is a dedicated group of parents working to enhance our school’s learning environment through fundraising.
But you don’t have to be a full-time member to make a difference!

We’re looking for ‘Friends of the Committee’—volunteers who can lend a hand throughout the year at various events and activities. Whether you can give a little of your time or a lot, every bit helps!

The more helpers we have, the lighter the load and the more we can achieve for our kids.
Join us in making a positive impact—your support means the world!

Register your interest at the link below in becoming a 'Friend of the Committee"
We will then give you a call when events/fundraisers come up to see if you are available.
Lessons with MUSIQHUB are held here at David Street School usually on a Friday.
